Why should I subsidize other students' birth control? I have not heard one compelling reason.

Cause you're going to be eating your words when your best friend sticks a coat hanger up her gash and dies of blood loss, and you're sitting there talking about cost-benefit analyses and shit.

Word Tanyo.

Tanyo, condoms are free for students at the SHPRC. Why should I have to pay for protections they should be taking for risky behavior. Should I pay for their cars to have extra airbags or their bicycle helmet?
And if everyone has to pay for their birth control, it just makes everyone a little poorer and less able to afford it for themselves. I just don't see the point.

than the ASSU?

Chris, condoms break, a lot, and birth control is a medication that gives women innumerable benefits beyond the prevention of pregnancy. And frankly its not like you are subsidizing orgies or something, the vast majority of people having sex on this campus are probably doing it responsibly. More then anything I think that the birth control subsidy promotes a healthy atmosphere towards sex (the very last thing that we need on this campus is another aspect of life that is taboo and stresses everybody out), and empowers females to take control of their situation. Sex is completely different from bicycles, for a multitude of reasons, including the fact that the consequences are more severe and involve at least 3 lives.

I'm not saying birth control is bad, I'm saying one should pay for their own birth control, not their fellow students.

Actually, Chris, I suspect you are subsidizing my helmet. How else does the bike shop sell them for $20 when they're usually $40?

Imagine this:
Two strangers, Peter and Jane, walk up to you and say: "We're having sex tonight and we want you to give us $10 to pay for our birth control."
But why should I pay for their sex lives? And does enlisting Stanford to extort the $10 from me make it any more justifiable?
There's a simple English word for this: stealing.
