I live in Boston and hope that Eli can beat the Pats. If he hadn't peeled back in a couple plays against New England earlier in the season to avoid sacks, the Giants could've beaten them then.
There's actually more to being on the roster as a wide receiver than just catching passes. Doubling up Randy Moss allows other players to make plays (Kevin Faulk, for one, is perfect in the playoffs), and perhaps you missed his blocks? Which is perfectly normal for a spectator just watching for the eye-popping plays rather than the subtleties.
The Pats defense played spectacularly against the Chargers, so I wouldn't say they "suddenly look a little old on defense." They let teams march up and down between the 20s, but they didn't give up a TD and they shut 'em down in the red zone. And it's really, really hard to argue with Brady's performance against the Jaguars.
Eli absolutely deserves to be in the Super Bowl, or he wouldn't be there, and he's played very well since Week 17. It should be a good game, but I'm not betting on any upsets.
"suddenly look a little old on defense" - more tired rhetoric that simply doesn't align with the facts. Sorry man.
Pats Fan, the Pats do look old on defense, it's a fact. Besides for the front 3, no one looks particularly good right now.
patsfan21, I doubt the Giants double Moss. They didn't double Owens all year, and didn't double Moss in Week 17. He'll be one on one, because he's not the person the Giants should worry about. It's Welker--the Giants' biggest weakness are the holes between the LBs and safeties in coverage. Welker will eat them apart all day if they don't contain the initial 5-15 yards.
SportsFan, I wasn't speaking specifically of the Giants in Week 17 but in Moss's performance in the playoffs thus far.
