This report covers a selection of crimes reported from Aug. 16 to 26 as recorded in the Stanford Police Department Public Bulletin.

A series of bike thefts occurred during this time.

Aug. 15

At 3:20 p.m., a company contracted to remove wire from the Serra buildings reported that the wire was missing, passing on the opportunity for an easy work day.

Between 1:45 and 4 p.m., six summer camp students climbed on top of Memorial Church. An officer recorded their information in case there was damage to the roof.

At 11:15 a.m. at the Clark Center, a suspect was observed attempting to steal a bike. The suspect was found to possess paraphernalia and no subtlety, and was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Aug. 16

At 11:20 a.m. at Junipero Serra Blvd. and Stanford Ave., a bike-versus-bike collision resulted in an injury, with no word yet on the victor.

Between 1 and 1:45 a.m. at Mirrielees, a cell phone was stolen.

Aug. 17

At 12:40 a.m., a person was cited for being a minor in possession of alcohol after falsely identifying him/herself. Two victims were reported, presumably traumatized after learning their companion’s identity.

Between 12:15 and 8:15 a.m. at Haus Mitteleuropa, 14 unsecured laptops and an Xbox 360 were stolen, the criminal honoring traditionally high German standards.

Aug. 18

Between 4:10 and 5 p.m., a victim’s clothing was stolen from an unsecured hallway closet in Naranja.

Between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., an unknown suspect entered a restroom at Mudd Chemistry building and caused $400 worth of structural damage by an act of vandalism.

At 12 a.m. at Lane L and Governor’s Ave., a non-injury, hit-and-run, vehicle-versus-vehicle, hyphen-abusing collision occurred.

Aug. 19

At 8:55 a.m. at Campus Drive West and Searsville Rd., a vehicle-versus-vehicle-versus-vehicle collision occurred, but no injuries were reported.

Aug. 20

Between 11:30 a.m. and 8:10 p.m. at Parking Structure 6, a vehicle’s window was smashed and a cell phone was stolen.

Between June 21 and Aug. 20, in an incident at Florence Moore Hall, an unknown suspect placed a suspicious handwritten letter on the Paloma door. The letter, oddly, was described as being signed by someone who was not the person who wrote it.

Aug. 21

At 3:10 p.m., the window of a vehicle at Parking Structure 5 was smashed. The victim was out of town and could not verify if any items had been stolen.

At 7:37 a.m. at the Escondido II Highrise, an unknown suspect(s) entered the basement’s equipment room and stole a rack-mounted LAN controller.

Aug. 22

Between 4:30 and 5 p.m., a person at Durand was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Between 2 and 2:30 p.m. at Durand, an unknown suspect stole six iMac monitors, possibly bringing attention to the above.

Aug. 23

Between 10 p.m. on Aug. 22 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 23, an unknown suspect stole a laptop and keys from an unlocked Rains apartment.

Aug. 24

At 4:45 p.m. at the De Guerre Pools and Courts, a sports bag containing personal belongings was stolen by unknown suspects.

Aug. 25

A victim reported a threatening phone call received between 11 and 11:45 a.m. at Tresidder Union.

In an incident at the Solar Car Site parking lot that took place between 10:05 and 11:15 a.m., a person was found in possession of a balance scale. He claimed he had found the scale in a dumpster, leading to 20 minutes of mutually confused silence.
