This report covers a selection of crimes reported from Aug. 1 to 15 as recorded in the Stanford Police Department Public Bulletin.
A series of bike thefts occurred during this time.
July 28
Between July 20 and July 28, unknown suspects deposited fraudulent checks into a victim’s checking account, then fraudulently withdrew money from the same account, in a genuine case of identity theft.
July 30
Reported on Aug. 9, between 6 a.m. on July 30 and 2 p.m. on July 31, money was stolen from the Florence Moore kitchen “without consent.”
July 31
Between 4:30 p.m. on July 30 and 9 a.m. on July 31, an unknown suspect broke into the golf cart garage at the Student Services Building. No items were reported missing, possibly because all the golf carts had already been stolen earlier in the summer.
August 1
At 9:15 a.m., two vehicles were towed to the Abrams Court parking lot, due to re-paving of the Barnes court parking lot.
Between 5 p.m. on July 31 and 5 p.m. on Aug. 1, unknown suspects were told on after an advertising banner was removed from a perimeter fence at Escondido Elementary School without authorization.
August 2
At 10:20 a.m., a camera and bag were found on a bench outside Branner; they are now stored at the Department of Public Safety (SUDPS).
August 4
In an incident reported on Aug. 4, a victim was unable to locate a pair of jeans after searching between June 30 and July 7.
August 5
A man reported that he had lost his lifelong visa certificate, which goes with the stamp on his passport, between 3 p.m. on July 31 and 10 a.m. on Aug. 5.
Between 10 a.m. on Aug. 4 and 4 a.m. on Aug. 5, a bike was stolen from the Beckman Center for Molecular and Genetic Medicine. Remnants of torn purple shorts were found at the scene.
In an incident reported on Aug. 5, a suspect obtained a victim’s identity and made numerous credit card purchases around the Peninsula between July 9 and July 14.
Between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle in the Gates parking lot and stole a two-gigabyte flash drive.
August 6
Between 12 a.m. and 8 a.m., an electric box behind the Haas Center was spray-painted with white paint.
At 1:50 p.m. at Arboretum Rd. and Lasuen St., an injury vehicle-versus-bike collision occurred. The bike was stored at the SUDPS bike compound.
August 7
Between 5 p.m. on Aug. 6 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 7, an unknown suspect entered a classroom at the Cubberley School of Education, leaving the scene on stolen sneakers and listening to a stolen iPod.
Between June 21 and Aug. 7, an unknown person left letters on teammates’ vehicles, as well as on parking and transportation signs, under suspicious circumstances at the 655 Serra lot.
August 8
At 12:20 a.m., a driver was booked for driving under the influence after a vehicle-versus-fixed object collision at Galvez St. and Campus Dr.
August 9
A theft occurred at the Braun Music Center between 10 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 9. One brass cymbal was reported missing.
August 10
At 10:45 a.m., vomiting occurred at an unspecified location.
August 11
In an incident that took place between 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 8 and 9 a.m. on Aug. 11, suspects suffering from a failure of ambition stole three new electric fans and a trash can from the lobby of the Fire House.
August 12
At 7:40 p.m. at Page Mill Rd. and Deer Creek Rd., a solo motorcycle collision occurred.
August 13
At 6:45 a.m. at 116 Jenkins Ct., a garage dumpster enclosure fence was found burning. No structures were threatened and no evidence of foul play was found.
