This report covers a selection of crimes reported from July 7 to July 22 as recorded in the Stanford Police Department Public Bulletin.

A series of bike thefts occurred during this time.

July 8

An incident was reported involving Princeton University in which an unknown suspect sent a threatening letter through the U.S. Postal Service.

Between 12 p.m. on July 7 and 9:45 p.m. on July 8, a juvenile received an annoying text message in an incident somehow involving four people.

A victim who had borrowed a bike from another person reported it stolen between 9 a.m. on July 7 and 6:30 p.m. on July 8.

July 10

At 1 p.m., a delivery vehicle backed into a parked, unattended vehicle near Branner Hall.

Between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m., a victim’s locked bike was stolen from a bike rack left of the front door of Hoover Tower, prompting the swift release of the hounds.

Between 2 p.m. on July 9 and 1:55 p.m. on July 10, a vehicle at Parking Structure 5 had its driver-side window smashed and the stereo stolen.

July 11

At 4:50 p.m. at the Escondido II high-rise, a victim received harassing emails from another person.

Between 1:45 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Lasuen Street, a person smashed the window of a victim’s locked vehicle in order to steal a computer case.

At 1:45 p.m. at the Row & Cluster on 672 Lomita Drive, a theft of a department-rented golf cart was reported.

Between 10 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. an unknown person used a fake $100 bill at the Stanford Store in Tresidder Memorial Union.

July 12

At Lantana between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m., a victim reported that a dorm room key was taken off of her key ring while she was showering.

Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at 625 Serra, an unknown suspect helped himself/herself to a laptop from the backseat of a victim’s unlocked, unattended vehicle.

At 2:20 a.m., a patient sustained injuries when he fell on the stairs at Meyer Library. The patient walked it off and declined transport to the Stanford Emergency Room.

July 13

At 7:47 a.m., an arrestee was cited and released for not properly restraining his dog at Serra and Campus Drive.

At 7:30 a.m., it became known that a fire sprinkler system had activated on the fourth floor of Gilbert Biological Services, causing property damage.

At 1:10 a.m., a person was taken to the main jail and booked for public intoxication at Bowdoin Lane and Arguello Mall.

July 14

A stolen vehicle was recovered at the Hoover Pavilion at 7:25 p.m.

In an incident at the Stanford Bookstore at 4:55 p.m., a person enjoying a tasty beverage from Jamba Juice had an allergic reaction to it, at which point the patient was transported to the Stanford Medical Center and had his/her parents notified.

A person injured himself by falling over a bike rack at Escondido Road and Arguello Mall at 12:30 p.m. The patient was transported to Stanford Hospital, and the bike rack remains at large.

July 15

At 1:10 p.m., an injury was reported in a collision between a bike and a golf cart, observed by two witnesses.

July 16

At 7:45 p.m., a victim reported his/her vehicle in Parking Structure 5 stolen.

July 17

Between 1 p.m. and 6:10 p.m., an unknown suspect damaged a Student Housing golf cart at Wilbur Hall.

July 18

A suspect threw pieces of copper storm drain pipe over the fence surrounding the Old Chemistry building on Lomita Drive at 7:05 p.m. The suspect and a companion fled the scene.

July 19

At 1:45 a.m., a person was taken to main jail and booked for being publicly intoxicated at Wilbur Hall.

July 20

Between 10 p.m. on July 19 and 10 a.m. on July 20, an unknown suspect(s) broke into a vehicle at Lomita Court and stole the stereo and subwoofer.

July 21

At 9:20 p.m., at Junipero Serra and Campus Drive West, a deputy dispatched an injured deer.

At 7:23 p.m., a suspect smashed the window of a victim’s vehicle on Running Farm Lane and stole the GPS system, with a reporting party watching.

Between 8:28 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. a victim’s unattended BlackBerry was stolen from the bleachers at the Chandler Track Stadium.
