The No. 7 Stanford men’s golf team will start the postseason as the fourth seed in the Division I West NCAA Regional, which begins on May 15 and will be hosted by the University of Washington at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash. The Cardinal is looking to repeat its national championship finish of last year after finishing fifth in the Pac-10 Championships, which concluded on April 30.
Stanford will need to finish among the top 10 teams in the regional in orderto qualify for the championships, which are scheduled from May 28-30 and will be held in West Lafayette, Ind. Eight Pac-10 teams will compete against the Cardinal in the regional, including USC and UCLA, which hold the first and second seeds in the event, respectively.
Although it may not be the favorite coming into this year’s tournament, Stanford looks to win its second straight national title. Last season, the Cardinal earned a 12-stroke victory over Georgia for the program’s eighth national title and first in over a decade.
