This report covers a selection of crimes from Jan. 15 to Jan. 29 as recorded in the Stanford Police Department Public Bulletin.

Tuesday, Jan. 15

- Between 1 and 1:30 p.m., a victim’s wallet was stolen from the men’s room at the Durand Building.

- Between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Jan. 16, an unknown suspect or suspects removed a desk chair in the Terman Engineering Lab without permission. This is the third chair taken in three months.

Thursday, Jan. 17

- Between 12:13 and12:14 a.m. at Building 10, The President’s Office, an unknown suspect was recorded on surveillance video making an unauthorized entry through a unsecured rear door in the Quad. No items were removed. The suspect was in the building for approximately 23 seconds.

- At 4:30 p.m., an unknown suspect took two books from the bookstore without paying for them.

Monday, Jan. 21

- Between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. at Branner, an unknown suspect struck a victim, causing the victim’s eye to swell and bruise. The victim’s friend transported him to Stanford Hospital for further treatment.

- At 3:35 a.m., a grease fire occured in Mirrielees. Due to fire sprinklers, several rooms were flooded.

Thursday, Jan. 24

- At 2 a.m., an arrestee was stopped for several traffic violations at Roble. While being cited, the arrestee gave false identification to the officer. The arrestee was cited for the traffic violations and for giving false identification to a police officer.

- At 10:07 a.m., an unknown suspect took a victim’s wallet from her purse under her desk in the Arrillaga Family Sports Center. When confronted by the victim and a witness, the suspect denied the theft and fled on foot.

- Between 7:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. Jan. 25, two laptop computers were taken from the Kappa Sigma House. There were no signs of forced entry into the house.

Friday, Jan. 25

- An unidentified suspect used a ruse to steal a victim’s purse from the lost and found at Tressider Memorial Student Union at 7 a.m. The suspect left with the purse claiming she would turn it into the police.

- At 11:30 a.m., a collison occured at Campus Drive and Escondido Road. The man complained of pain to his neck and was transported to the Stanford Hospital emergency room.

Sunday, Jan. 27

- Between 9:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. Jan. 28, an unknown suspect or suspects smashed a victim’s window of her locked vehicle and stole CDs.

Tuesday, Jan. 29

- At 5:50 p.m., the contents of an unattended microwave oven in Crothers Hall ignited, causing smoke. There was no smoke or fire damage to Stanford property.
