About The Daily

The Stanford Daily has been a fixture on the Stanford campus since the University was founded in 1892. The paper began as a small publication known to locals as The Daily Palo Alto and has grown to its current status as one of the finest college newspapers in the country.

The Stanford Daily publishes Monday through Friday during the academic year and maintains a circulation of 10,000 to over 500 locations on the Stanford campus and throughout the city of Palo Alto. In addition to the daily newspaper, The Daily publishes two weekly supplements: Intermission, a weekly pullout entertainment section; and, Cardinal Today, a weekly sports "outsert" during football, basketball and baseball/softball seasons. The Daily also publishes several special issues every year: The Orientation Issue, Big Game Cardinal Today, The Pre-Commencement Issue and The Commencement Issue.

The Stanford Daily's business hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. The editorial newsroom is open Sunday through Thursday, 4:00 pm to midnight. The Staff
The Daily's staff is comprised of more than 200 student writers and editors. Membership is open to any registered Stanford student and no experience is required. Prospective staffers should stop by the Storke Publications Building (across from the Terman Engineering Building) anytime or email the Editor at eic@daily.stanford.edu. A staff directory is below.

There are always positions open for writers, graphic artists, photographers, online editors and advertising staffers.

The Stanford Daily Online
The Daily became one of the first college newspapers publishing on the Internet when it launched its online edition in 1995. The Stanford Daily Online (www.stanforddaily.com) is updated Monday through Friday during the academic year and features content from the print edition, along with special Web-only content.

The Corporation
The Stanford Daily newspaper is the primary holding of The Stanford Daily Publishing Corporation. Founded in 1973, The Stanford Daily Publishing Corporation operates as a California non-profit corporation headed by the paper's Editor in Chief and business manager.
