A plethora of health services await students in need

After recent student deaths — several of which authorities consider to be apparent suicides — Stanford’s mental health resources have come under increased scrutiny from both students and University officials. Many students and counselors told The Daily that while they generally feel the University’s mental health support network is extensive, several glaring inadequacies remain. The responsibility for reform, they said, rests on both students and administrators.

Alternative energy options explored

Energy giant BP announced last week that it will partner with UC-Berkeley, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab to form a $500 million research institution that will investigate alternative energy options. The grant proposal was co-written by Stanford Biological Sciences Prof.
